Zedan Racing added another yearling to the stable on Wednesday when Donato Lanni signed the ticket on a $325,000 Uncle Mo colt.
Offered by Denali Stud, this regally bred colt was one that couldn’t be left behind with his pedigree screaming he has top-level racehorse potential. The colt is out of the stakes placed Weekend Strike, who has produced six winners from her nine to race, led by Group 3 winner Sizzling.
Weekend Strike is a full sister to Grade 3 winner Smart Surprise, who then produced Canadian champion Moonlight Promise among her foals. An even more exciting sibling is her four-time Grade 1 winning half-brother Court Vision. He leads the charge on the seven stakes performers out of Weekend Storm, who produced 11 winners in all and has seen her page grow every month with her daughter’s 2-year-old grandson Stormy Lent hitting the board in three stakes since late August.
The family gets stronger and stronger the longer one looks at it with Weekend Storm a full sister to Preakness S. (G1) winner Summer Squall and a half-sister to horses such as Horse of the Year A.P. Indy, the granddam of dual Grade 1 winner Raging Sea, and many others.
This purchase comes on the heels of plenty of success on the track recently. Barnes romped in the Perryville S. (G3) last Saturday while Jude showed how impressive a racehorse he is with a Thoroughbred Daily News ‘Rising Star’ performance on debut the weekend before.
There are no upcoming entries at this time.
