It was only one purchase for Zedan Racing on Tuesday at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-Year-Old Sale, but it was a big one when Donato Lanni went to $1,050,000 to secure the Violence colt.
The second most expensive juvenile overall and most expensive colt of the sale, the Top Line Sales offering came late in the day but was one the group didn’t want to miss.
“We loved this horse,” Lanni said. “He sold himself. And he is just a specimen of a horse–an amazing-looking horse. It’s hard to find a horse who looks like that.”
This colt is a half-brother to two winners from three to race out of A Taste Of Red with those horses including the stakes placed Microcap. A Taste of Red was unraced herself but is a half-sister to multiple Grade 2 winner Tower of Texas, Grade 2 winner Street Sounds, and stakes winner Silver Highlight.
Zedan and Top Line Sales have teamed up for some excellent racehorses in the past with the group including Grade 1 winners MUTH and ARABIAN KNIGHT. The consignment’s Torie Gladwell ranked this colt at their level of talent.
“I put this horse in the Muth and Arabian Knight category,” Gladwell said. “We only sell a couple of those horses every year. Last year, we didn’t have one. This year, we were blessed and we had maybe two of them. This is one of them.”
It has been a big juvenile sales season for Zedan Racing with this group of 2-year-olds including the OBS March sale topper and a $1.15 million Tiz The Law colt last month.
There are no upcoming entries at this time.
