Zedan Racing has made headlines at the track over the last week with two Thoroughbred Daily Racing ‘Rising Stars’ but on Tuesday night, they were in the spotlight at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale.
A sale that has seen a strong presence by Zedan in recent years, 2025 wasn’t any different with Donato Lanni going to $2.9 million to secure the third most expensive yearling of the sale. Offered by Four Star Sales, the colt is by Gun Runner – who is the sire of Zedan’s recent impressive winner BRANT and the stable’s three-time Grade 1 winner TAIBA.
This colt is out of the stakes winning Princesa Carolina, who was Grade 1 placed as well. Princesa Carolina is a promising young broodmare who has two winners from two to race led by Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Muhimma. This pedigree screams talent from top to bottom with his second dam the dual Grade 1 winner Pure Clan.
Out of Grade 3 winner Gather The Clan, Pure Clan is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Greater Good. Her sisters are also the dams of Grade 1 winners Finley’sluckycharm and Grade 1 winners among 17 stakes performers descending from Gather The Clan.
It’s been a big year for Zedan Racing with 13 top three placings from 17 starts including San Vicente S. (G2) winner Barnes.
