Salahudin came away a two-length winner in his July 17 debut at Ellis Park, with trainer Bob Baffert on hand to saddle the Zedan Racing Stables Inc colorbearer in the 6 ½-furlong maiden special weight for 2-year-olds.
In the far outside post in the field of nine, Salahudin broke a bit tardy but steadily made up ground on the backstretch to move into fourth entering the turn. After seeming to struggle on the turn, Salahudin found his best stride after turning for home. He made the lead in upper stretch and easily held off Jokester to win by two lengths.
A $325,000 purchase by Zedan out of the 2025 Fasig-Tipton October Yearling sale, Salahudin is by Uncle Mo and out of Weekend Strike, who is the dam of six winners and a half-sister to five-time Grade 1 winner Court Vision. Third dam Weekend Surprise is the dam of Hall of Famer A.P. Indy.
