Zedan Racing was eager to take home a future star the OBS March Sale of 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale and did just that with a $2 million colt.

Offered by Top Line Stables, the Good Magic colt purchased by Donato Lanni on our behalf topped the sale after breezing in :9.3 during the Under Tack sale. He is the first out of a winning Uncle Mo mare, whose own dam is a half-sister to the stakes placed March to Victory.

The colt’s fourth dam Beautiful Bedouin is the matriarch of a family that includes Grade 1 winners War Command, Hit The Road, Rollout the Carpet, Charles Dickens, and others.

“I kind of expected it because good horses command good prices and he was a standout,” Zedan told Thoroughbred Daily News. “We were just waiting for this moment to come to get the opportunity to bid for him. He demonstrated an amazing breeze and he looked the part. And most importantly, Bob just fell in love with him. Donato flagged the horse. Bob – we call him the boss – arrived and he basically loved what he saw. We huddled up and the rest you know.”

The price paid for the colt equaled the March sale record with trainer Bob Baffert and Lanni sitting in the press box while bidding on behalf of the stable.
