It was a first Grade 1 victory for the gorgeous ARABIAN LION at Belmont Park when he won the Woody Stephens Stakes (G1) one start after registering his maiden stakes victory.
The Bob Baffert trainee shadowed the leading Federal Judge after being hustled out of the gate. He eyed the front throughout the early stages as he stuck close to the rail before moving a few paths wide coming into the stretch.
With just over a furlong left to run, he had the lead and with John Velazquez asking him to give a little bit more, won by 1 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:21.70.
ARABIAN LION has been a force to be reckoned with since breaking his maiden last October, running in stakes in all but one of his starts. Included in those runs is a victory in the Sir Barton S., a second in the Lexington S. (G3), and a third in the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial S. (G1).
There are no upcoming entries at this time.
