Zedan Racing Stables Inc. will be represented by a pair of starters in this year’s Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland, starting with Salahudin in Friday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), then on Saturday with Nooni in the Filly & Mare Sprint (G1).
Both horses are trained by Bob Baffert.
Salahudin, who is undefeated in three starts, figures to be one of the favorites in Friday’s 1 1/16-mile contest. The dark bay colt has campaigned exclusively in Kentucky, where he broke his maiden and won the Juvenile S., both at Ellis Park, then took the Iroquois S. (G3) Sept. 12 at Churchill Downs.
Salahudin will be making his first start around two turns and will have Tyler Gaffalione aboard for the first time when he breaks from post 3 in the eight-horse field.
The Juvenile is race 9 on Friday, with a post time of 4:55 pm ET.
Nooni, who was unlucky to draw the outside post in the field of 13, is riding a two-race winning streak coming into the seven-furlong race. Nooni, who suffered a setback in late 2024 that ultimately kept her away from the races for 18 months, is coming into the race with a very strong set of workouts since her latest start on Sept. 13.
Her most recent work at Churchill Downs was Oct. 24, when she blazed through four furlongs in :46.4, second-fastest of 183 horses. The 4-year-old will be ridden by Mario Gutierrez.
The Filly & Mare Sprint is the first Breeders’ Cup race on Saturday, the fourth on the card at 1:10 pm ET.
